Outside Plant Designer  

Plan, design, and maintain outside plant fiber network   

 

Reports To: TBD

Exempt Full Time Position (Salary)

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Plan, design, implement, maintain documentation for fiber outside plant facilities.

·       Support existing and ongoing projects.

·       Maintain safe work habits and conditions as per the regulations and policies.

·       Understand outside plant construction techniques and fiber design concepts.

·       Design to the aerial and underground engineering requirements.

·       Assist and support restoration methods for emergencies conditions such as fiber damages, power failures, and other disasters.

·       Define plans for implementation of new plant construction and modification of existing facilities as needed.

·       Participate in providing a budget for the implementation of designs, new services, technology, and industry requirements.

·       Responsible for assisting with the project expenditure, create progress reports, and recommend solutions to management.

·       Assist with supervising and monitoring fiber design and engineering contractors.

·       Assist in implementing CAD, GIS, and other systems to design, construct, and record fiber networks.

·       Coordinate and assist with necessary fieldwork as needed.

·       Other duties as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is both indoors, within an office cubicle, and outdoors. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copier, scanner, fax, etc.  Field work will be required.

 

 

ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES

Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.  Ability to complete assigned tasks effectively and efficiently.  Capability to think logically, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. (Documentation as needed) Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in various forms.

Permitting Coordinator  

Coordinate services related to OSP Fiber Network Projects, including, but not limited to: construction permitting, surveying, staking, applying for joint use pole permission, utility easement research, right of way determination, pole auditing, and documentation.

 

Reports to: Permitting Manager

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Support existing and ongoing projects.

·       Must be competent with Auto CAD, GIS, and similar systems, as well as maps.

·       Create permit requests and perform appropriate follow-up to ensure completion/ approval of permits.

·       Responsible for assisting with project reporting, creating progress reports, and recommending solutions to management.

·       Coordinate and/or assist with necessary fieldwork.

·       Mentor college interns and assist as needed.

·       Coordinate with 3rd parties, municipalities, and contractors as needed.

·       Meet with permitting authorities as needed.

·       Assist and support restoration work.

·       Maintain safe work habits and conditions per the regulations and policies.

·       Other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Prefer 2-year degree or equivalent experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to complete assigned tasks effectively and efficiently. Capability to think logically, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions (Documentation as needed). Ability to utilize computer and other technology to complete duties. Must be proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, and similar software. Time management, multi-tasking, dependability, and detail-oriented abilities are critical. Ability to interpret a variety of documentations including but not limited to construction plans, drawings, and maps.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to lift 25 lbs. Ability to crawl, stoop, kneel, walk on uneven terrain; operate motor vehicles including cars, vans, and pickup trucks. Wearing appropriate personal safety equipment.

Field Service Technician

Provide installation and service of all services provided by Amplex Electric

Reports To: FST Supervisor

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Install and service internet, VOIP, and any services provided by Amplex Electric

·      Mount equipment to customers home.  Run outdoor and indoor cable though walls, crawl spaces, attics and basements properly and neatly.

·      Assist customers in configuring computer and/or router for internet service.

·      Properly maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.

·      Collect and submit accurate documents and money collected.

·      Present a positive professional image to customers at all times.

·      Provide technical knowledge, expertise, and training to other installers as required.

·      Follow all company safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment as required.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

LANGUAGE

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instruction, and procedure manual.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively in person with customers.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY

·      Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions finished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

·      Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to lift, carry and climb a 75 lb. 32’ ladder, and climb a 50’ tower.  Ability to crawl, stoop, kneel, and drive a truck.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is outdoors in extreme high and low temperatures and all forms of precipitation.
